Soil Atlas of Africa  

The Land Management and Natural Hazards Unit of the Institute for Environment and Sustainability (IES), ISRIC – World Soil Information, the European Soil Bureau Network (ESBN), the African Soil Science Society (ASSS), and FAO conducted a survey amongst potential users of the Soils Atlas for Africa, to get insight into the needs and wishes about its content.  The preliminary report on the user survey for the Soil Atlas of Africa is now available for comment. Africa Environment Outlook 2 – Our Environment, Our Wealth (AEO-2)

Profiles Africa’s environmental resources as an asset for the region’s development.  The report underscores the need for sustainable livelihoods, and the importance of environmental initiatives in supporting them. Emphasis is put on what should and can be done with existing (remaining) environmental assets, in the context of identified constraints (issues), rather than focusing on what has been already lost.
