7th International Conference on Public Communication of Science and Technology
http://www.fest.org.za/docs/pcst_brochure.pdf
University of Cape Town Scientific, government, and activist communities increasingly believe that
public engagement in science and technology is critical for wise use of science
and technology in sustainable development. The public communication of science
has emerged as an important field for scientists, policy makers and educators,
as well as for journalists and other communication professionals.
For the first time the international Public Communication of Science and
Technology (PCST) Network will meet in Africa. "Science Communication in a
Diverse World" is the theme of this exciting international conference
exploring innovative approaches in the public communication of science and
technology. Science communication within different cultures and multi-cultural
societies will be a central theme. This conference will provide a forum for leaders in
science communication from around the globe to interact, with emphasis on enriching
exchanges between developed and developing countries.
This will be the 7th international biennial conference of the PCST Network. It is
the main networking event of a global community of people committed to
developing research and practice in this fast-developing field. The PCST
Network's scientific committee is responsible for the conference content.
The meeting will be organised by FEST in South Africa, with primary sponsorship
from South Africa's Department of Arts, Culture, Science and Technology (DACST).
