Jointly-managed event by USAID/NOAA on behalf of CEOS,
GISD, ISCGM Partnership Fair Event as part of State Department/OES
delegation efforts at CSD-11, New York City, New York USA
This was a three-hour open forum featuring presentations and
planning for all participants at CSD-11. Major presentations
were provided by the International Steering Committee for Global
Mapping (ISCGM), Geographical Information for Sustainable
Development (GISD) and Committee for Earth Observation
Satellites (CEOS). The goal was to discuss future
opportunities for collaboration in Africa for capacity building in
the space science and geospatial arena.
Other partners provided material or sent observers at both the
April 29 and May 7 events including: the OpenGIS Consortium
(OGC), UN Cartographic Committee and UN Geographic Information
Working Group (UNGIWG), several country delegations, World
Resources Institute (WRI), Environmental Systems Research
Institute (ESRI, Inc.) the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Agency (NOAA), U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the
Department of Interior (DOI) and USGS-EROS Data Center, NASA, the
Association of American Geographers (AAG), the My Community, Our
Earth alliance (MyCOE) and others.
